Own Your Story, End The Year Stronger - In Person

We are our stories. Those we share with others and those we tell ourselves. They shape our identity and influence every interaction.

Whether we realise it or not, we are deeply affected by the roles we still play in our memories (when we think or speak about them), and the parts we play out in our lives.

At the last storytelling experience, I got each person to share a defining moment in their life. Something that affected them long after. One member commented, she only realised how important that decision was through sharing it. She felt more confident in that decision and made sense of her life in a way that she couldn't before.

Sharing her story wasn't really about the person listening, it was for her... to hear herself.

Most of us don't speak about our lives in this way. We share what happened, but aren't alive inside of the experience.

It requires courage to tell stories in this way, because we have to feel more, and be seen to feel more. It can be scary.

If you are willing to be a little bit scared for a little bit longer, you will access something deeper.

Another member said that feeling more discomfort while sharing had him feeling stronger. At first he was resisting his feelings and felt weaker. As he challenged himself to feel more, he felt himself growing in strength.

That's the beauty of discomfort: Just like lifting weights regularly makes our muscles grow, the more we are willing to feel, the stronger we become. Except, unlike muscles, there is no limit to how internally strong we can get or how quickly that can happen. 

Within the Deep Connections space, I guide us on a gradual journey that has us take small courageous steps while being supported. We are all in this together.

I'll be sharing vulnerably in front of you, as will my nephew Ben. You will be doing it in small groups and pairs.

It is a journey of ownership and deeper connection to yourself through telling the stories of your life. By owning them  you will leave that environment stronger than when you arrived.

You will  be sharing in a space where you are deeply listened to. At Deep Connections, we don't leave that up to chance. There are some listening rules that we will all abide by to ensure that you and each person has the experience of expressing yourself while feeling seen and heard.

When the entire room full of people are doing this. It is powerful!

1pm - Our journey begins with some fun and light hearted stories & connection. Then, we lay the foundations of how to own our stories when sharing them

2:30pm - Comfort, Connection & Lunch Break

3:15pm - Part 2…We build on what we started

5:00pm - Finish. Stay to continue telling stories and connecting. If you want, go get some dinner with the people you have just shared this deep experience with.
